On Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the ILA Annual Conference in Boston, MA, Katya Adamov-Ferguson presented an engaging session on culturally sensitive instruction. Katya is a teacher in Mantioba, Canada who is focused on the journey toward culturally responsive teaching.

Katya talked about resources that share untold Indigenous stories. She explored inclusive text sets and the implications of a reconciliation process. Attendees received valuable strategies for using multimodal texts that deepened comprehension and developed critical literacy skills for all students.
